Mumbai : The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court onWednesday, provided much need relief to actress Rani Mukerji, who hadchallenged the Ahmednagar District Collectorate`s order cancelling herownership of a plot near Shirdi due to irregularities in the deal.

The bench held that the 11000 sq feet land thatshe purchased near Sen End Hotel in Shirdi in the year 2005 belongs toRani.

But there is a catch, even though the land belongs to Rani, the court has ordered that the actress shall not construct anything onthe land.

Rani Mukherjee had moved to the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay HighCourt on April 01. The sultry actress had at that time told Zeenews, "Iwill look at all the options available to me. I will go to the court ifrequired."

The actress has throughout maintained that she had purchased that landlegally and had fulfilled all the necessary requirements. She hadbought the 11000 sq ft land for Rs 33 lakh and had paid a sum of Rs1,35,000 as the necessary duty on the land.

Our sources tell us that the original owner of the land wasa farmer, who with the permission of the government had started a brickkiln in 1981. After that time, the property rates of the regionincreased immensely, he sold the land to a man by the name Sampat More.In turn, Sampat sold it to Rani for Rs 33 lakh.

But, when the question of legality arose, a case was registered andfinally after two years, decision was announced supporting thegovernment and Rani lost her possession.
